TORONTO — Former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien will deliver the closing keynote at The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) Conference 2017 Toronto, which runs May 23-25 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
“We are delighted to welcome our great country’s former Prime Minister of Canada Jean Chrétien to the stage at GBTA Conference 2017 Toronto,” said Nancy Tudorache, director of operations for GBTA Canada, in a release. “It is a true delight to have a man of his calibre and patriotism close our 13th annual GBTA Canada conference, particularly during Canada’s celebratory 150th birthday year. Mr. Chrétien will no doubt impart stories of his invaluable experience as a 10-year leader of our country and 20th Prime Minister of Canada.”
In November 1993, Chrétien was sworn in as Canada’s 20th Prime Minister of Canada after winning a majority. He was re-elected with majorities in 1997 and 2000. As Prime Minister, he stressed balanced budgets, national unity and a strengthened place for Canada in the world. His government’s legacy also includes a number of social reform and humanitarian initiatives. Chrétien left the Office of Prime Minister of Canada on Dec. 12, 2003.
