This April, the Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) is launching Aspire, its new professional development event for housekeeping, front office, human resources, and administration supervisors and managers. Aspire an affordable way for hotels to invest in their employees with practical training, professional development, and networking opportunities, and, of course, to reward them with a bit of fun!
This event will be held on Monday, April 20, 2020, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel West Edmonton.
Business sessions will cover a wide range of topics that attendees will be able to immediately apply in their hotels. Topics include:
— Effective recruitment, hiring, and termination practices
— Skills for new or first-time supervisors and managers
— Preventing criminal activity in hotels
— Workplace health & safety
— Panel discussion for hotels operating without a dedicated HR department
In addition, there will be plenty of time for networking and opportunities to learn about some of the newest hospitality products and services at our vendor showcase!
Aspire, as well as Ascend — the AHLA’s fall event for hotel industry leaders and investors — replace the association’s former convention format. The change was made when the AHLA Board of Directors saw a need to move to a more compact and affordable format to help members develop their staff and keep current on best practices.
