SAHIC’s virtual format goes far beyond ZOOM

LATIN AMERICA — SAHIC’s virtual Conference for the Latin American and the Caribbean hotel and tourism investment community will take place on October 5-6 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EST. This will be a complete online event to bring together industry leaders to discuss the present and future of the business since the COVID-19 outbreak.

This online event is designed to facilitate encounters and close exchanges between colleagues and those interested in related topics. Due to global travel restrictions and health authorities’ recommendations to keep safe distancing measures, the annual event will be held on an online platform.

Supported by the effort of SAHIC’s sponsors and team, committed to promote regional collaboration and offer a Latin American & Caribbean perspective of the COVID-19 worldwide crisis, registrations will be released at a special price.

“The crisis we are facing due to the COVID-19 outbreak has become a day-to-day challenge. As part of the industry, we feel the need to send out an encouraging message and facilitate encounters and close exchanges between all members of our community,” said Arturo Garcia Rosa, president & founder of SAHIC.

Since COVID-19 impacted the industry, SAHIC committed to hold its community together. As an immediate response to the COVID-19 outbreak, SAHIC rolled out SAHIC e-meetings, a collaborative tool to help navigate the uncertainties of this new reality. The initiative provided learning and encouraged the team to deliver an interactive platform for its first virtual conference.


Garcia Rosa said, “Every year since 2008, we look forward to meeting, shaking hands, and learning from each other. It’s the way we do business. Our 15th edition finds us facing challenging and changing times, but more than ever, eager to connect. This is why SAHIC will stick to its calendar and remain, although remotely, as the annual meeting point for hotel and tourism business.”

The two-day virtual event for SAHIC 2020 conference will be feature nine hours of great networking opportunities, inspiring sessions and innovative speakers, and will incorporate key features such as live video-networking and a virtual industry brands exhibition. The experience has been designed to deliver the same benefits as the in-person event. Interactive features will provide meaningful networking to help build new partnerships and explore future projects:

  • Networking area where attendees can match with another decision maker in the room for a quick video call and “exchange business cards”.
  • Interactive roundtables where registrants can join a select number of attendees through multi-screen live video conversation to exchange business ideas on specific industry topics.
  • Live sessions following a program of inspiring speakers sharing valuable data and insights, and the opportunity to join in.
  • Exhibition booths to meet exhibitors and engage with their teams at their virtual booths.

Topics on the agenda will cover the economic impact of COVID-19 in our industry and how to live through it, the importance of inspiration and leadership in our organizations, the possible post-COVID scenarios and how to detect opportunity in an unfavourable reality, between other day-to-day challenges.

“Our industry is living an unprecedented situation. We continue to work with optimism hoping that by 2021, for the good of humanity, the pandemic will be over and we can meet face to face again in our traditional annual conference on September 27-29, 2021,” Arturo Garcia Rosa said.
