FOGO ISLAND, NL — What is winter like at one of the four corners of the Earth? Think birds: Bull birds, Snowbirds, Evening Grosbeaks, King Eiders, Harlequin ducks, White Winged Scoter — birds for lovebirds. For nature lovers during the weekend of February 12-14, Fogo Island Inn has created an intimate Love (the) Birds Package for couples, solo travellers and best friends. Throughout Valentine’s Day weekend, one of the world’s leading birding experts, William A. Montevecchi, Ph.D, from Memorial University, St John’s, NL, will share his expertise by leading presentations and guided birding excursions.
The full-board Love (the) Birds two-night package rate begins at $1,375 per night, exclusive of taxes; is based on two people (solo travelers deduct $200); and includes a wine, chocolate and cheese pairing; a day of guided bird watching; birding presentations; a five-course supper; and, depending on the weather, skating, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.
