GANDER,
N.L.—Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador conference and trade show is being
held in Gander at the end of February for its members and tourism stakeholders.

Taking
place Feb. 24 – 26, conference sessions will include topics such as: changing
consumer behaviour and who the customer is in 2015 and beyond; adapting
branding and marketing strategies; investing differently to drive demand; and
reaching customers through online technology partners and social media.

John
Young, a customer service, sales and consumer behaviour expert, will be the
keynote speaker.

“Tourism services, attractions and destinations
that are aware of evolving customer patterns and adapt their strategies
accordingly maintain their competitive edge and grow demand for their products
and experiences,” Hospitality NL chair Rex Avery said in a release. “By sharing
his insight on how to create the ultimate customer experience that travellers
seek, Mr. Young will ensure tourism operators across the province are equipped
to plan and deliver world-class encounters while ensuring their competitive
edge in a rapidly changing environment.”

In
addition to the networking opportunities and connections to be made with
tourism colleagues, the event will feature Hospitality NL’s AGM, board
meetings, provincial and development luncheons and the awards gala recognizing
some of the industry’s most innovative and talented individuals.

Premier Paul Davis will address delegates at the
luncheon, sharing his thoughts on the hospitality industry and its future role
in growing the economy.

“The tourism industry in Newfoundland and Labrador
is a major economic driver in both urban and rural communities, generating $1
billion in annual spending and producing eight per cent of provincial jobs,”
said Avery.
