Charlottetown, PEI—The Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island (TIAPEI) will be hosting the annual Tourism Conference & Awards Gala March 4 at Red Shores Charlottetown racetrack and casino.
Leading off the conference will be a presentation from Booking.com, followed by the semi-annual business meeting that will feature the election of the TIAPEI board, including three county representatives and five sector representatives (accommodations; food and beverage; attractions; retail organizations; tour operators; cultural products and events).
Keynote speaker Corrine Sandler will discuss her book Wake Up or Die, a treatise on the use of intelligence in business today.
The tradeshow component offers an opportunity to network with over 200 businesses within the PEI tourism industry. There is still space left for any company wanting to exhibit.
The evening will see the tourism industry celebrate its achievements at the awards gala that will be emcee’d by Kerri Wynne Macleod.
TIAPEI is accepting awards nominations that can be made on behalf of individuals, businesses and organizations representing excellence in the tourism industry. Self-nominations are also accepted. The deadline to submit nominations is Feb. 9 at 5pm.
To review a description of each award or to nominate, please visit the TIAPEI website at www.tiapei.pe.ca.
In the morning, TIAPEI will be hosting a silent auction, with all proceeds going toward the TIAPEI Scholarship Fund, whose goal is to attract additional professional workers to Prince Edward Island's tourism industry.
