TORONTO—The 'Furrmont' Royal York welcomed dogs and their owners to their Doggleganger High Tea, where pooches dress up like celebrities, and strut the runway set up for a fashion show with prizes. It was held on June 2 in honour of the 10th Annual Woofstock celebration which takes place next weekend in Toronto's St. Lawrence Market area.

While the owners had just water to drink, the pups were spoiled with
decorated dog cookies, water, and beef bouillon served from silver
teapots.

Celebrity look-alikes included dogs dressed as Elvis, Gene Simmonds,
The Queen, Barbara Bush, Woody Allen, Kate Middleton, Beyonce, The Green
Hornet and My Little Pony. After all the dogs and owners strutted their
stuff on a runway set up in the centre of the historic Imperial Room,
judges (including one called Randy Jack Russell), awarded prizes for the
best costume.

The Grand Prize was an overnight stay at The Fairmont Royal York
during the Woofstock festivities.  Second prize was dog food for a year
from Purina, and third prize was a Dyson Groom Tool for Dogs.

Although the judges swore that there was nothing political about the
contest, third prize went to a Toronto Mayor Rob Ford look-alike,
wearing a suit and tie. Second price went to a dog named Carey Grant
dressed as Liberace, complete with his own upright piano.  And first
prize went to Johnny Jackson, a Michael Jackson look-alike, complete
with his own stage and sound system.

Both the dogs and their owners enjoyed their time in the limelight in Canada's second largest hotel.
