CALGARY — SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts announced on April 5 that construction has begun on the Residence Inn by Marriott Calgary Downtown and SilverBirch Conference Centre in Calgary’s beltline neighbourhood.

Construction on the hotel and conference centre is expected to be completed in early 2019 and will bring 390 long-stay suites to Calgary’s downtown area, making the property one of the largest Residence Inns in the world.

Being built at the corner of 10th Avenue and 5th Street SW, the all-suite property will feature complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi throughout, free hot breakfast daily, complimentary grocery delivery, 24-hour onsite food and beverage market, health and fitness options and public areas that include a terrace lounge and roof deck.

The hotel will also include a 10,000-square-foot SilverBirch Conference Centre offering unlimited and all-day access to Connections Café. The conference facilities will be distraction-free, ergonomically designed and will offer the latest built-in audio visual technology as well as complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the facility.

A second component, also under construction, consists of a residential rental tower that will comprise 303 units over 33 storeys along with a fitness centre for residents and indoor as well as outdoor social space. This building will also offer over 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail anticipated to serve hotel guests, residents and the neighbouring community.
