BEDFORD, N.S. — Crescita Hotels & Resorts Limited Partnership announced last week that it plans to develop and manage its first Tru by Hilton in Yarmouth, N.S., through hotel development and management agreements with Acadia First Nation Yarmouth.

Not only will this hotel create income for our First Nation and employment for our Band members, it will also contribute to the general economy of the County of Yarmouth and the Province of Nova Scotia. It will create employment and training opportunities. It will provide contract opportunities during construction and during operation. It will also foster tourism for the area and bring in guests from all over the world into our community to experience our Mi’kmaq culture.”

The four-storey hotel will feature 82 rooms, 1,000 square feet of meeting space, a fitness centre, a waterslide and an indoor pool. The property will be located on the Acadia First Nation Yarmouth Reserve with construction eyed to get underway this spring with an opening targeted for July 2020.

Canada currently has one Tru by Hilton open in South Edmonton (Windermere). Six Canadian Tru hotels are currently under development in addition to the one in Yarmouth: Markham, Ont. (part of a dual brand with Home2 Suites); Bracebridge, Ont.; Gananoque, Ont.; Mississauga, Ont. (west of the airport); Mississauga (off of Hwy. 27, east of the airport); and Kingston, Ont. Hilton is also working on approximately 10 more Trus in Canada, Cury said.
