OTTAWA — She's not even three, but little Myra Gupta has already cut the ribbon for two restaurants bearing her name. The second restaurant opened in Ottawa Feb. 15 at the Holiday Inn Ottawa East, owned by the Crown Group of Hotels. Ottawa dignitaries were also on hand for the event.

Mississauga based Crown Group of
Hotels recently acquired their latest property in
the nation's capital, Holiday Inn Ottawa East, located at 1199 Joseph Cyr St,
Ottawa, Ont.

The company owns and operates
multiple internationally recognized hospitality brands such as Marriott, Hilton, Choice, and has now added Intercontinental Hotels Group to their portfolio. Kuldeep Sharma, president & CEO, Crown Group of Hotels, owns the company and
his children, Shivani Sharma Gupta and Sameer Sharma, manage the company’s
portfolio of family held assets.

On February 15, Kuldeep Sharma organized a red carpet champagne reception at the hotel to celebrate the acquisition and host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the on-site restaurant, now rebranded to Myra’s Bar & Kitchen.

The restaurant is named after his granddaughter, and is the second location they have opened in Canada in the last three years. Flutes of champagne were given out celebrating the opening of the restaurant. There was a live band, ice sculptures and exquisite hors d’oeuvres being passed around the event throughout the night.

Attendees from all over Ottawa and GTA marked their presence at the event. The grand evening also attracted the attendance of many influential people in the city including Deputy Mayor of Ottawa, Laura Dudas; MP Ottawa-Vanier, Mona Fortier; MPP Natalie Des Rosiers; regional city councillor Tim Tierney, senior bureaucrats from Indian High Commission Rakesh Mohan and Sunil Kumar; and many more business owners from City of Ottawa and Toronto. Deputy mayor Dudas presented a recognition plaque to Kuldeep Sharma on behalf of the Mayor of Ottawa, welcoming him to Ottawa.

Kuldeep Sharma announced in his speech he is happy to expand to Ottawa with the
acquisition of not only the hotel, but also the surrounding land, part of which
the oldest and the first Lone Star Texas Grill in Canada occupies. He went on
to announce potential plans for development of 600 condominium or apartment
units on land behind the hotel.

Crown Group of Hotels is also open to
partnerships and investor relations for a potential construction project on
this development land. “With close proximity to downtown Ottawa, the St. Laurent
Mall and growing public transit, this area boasts a great location for families
to reside. We look forward to continuing this discussion with the city,” said Sharma. Kuldeep Sharma started a
security company in India, which he grew to over 12,000 employees, and is now focusing on growing his Canadian presence.

The 261-room Holiday Inn hotel features 8,200 square feet of convention
space, a western cuisine restaurant, pool, gym and many more amenities. In
recent years it has been renovated at a cost of over $12 million. The hotel
has a newly appointed general manager, Raymundo Patino, who has many years of hospitality expertise in Ottawa and Mexico, to lead the team of over
100 staff members and operations for this significant investment by the company
into the City of Ottawa.

Crown Group of Hotels has plans to further invest money
into the hotel to ensure it provides the best experience for every guest they
welcome through their doors. Their next phase of condo construction in
Ottawa is expected to exceed $200 million.
