CHARLOTTETOWN — DP Murphy now have 12 operating properties in their portfolio including one recently opened Holiday Inn Express in Moncton, N.B. and a new build Hampton Inn, in Charlottetown slated to open May 2019. They have also hired some new people as the company expands.
Their portfolio of hotels includes Hampton Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn & Suites, Quality Inn, Future Inns, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Four Points by Sheraton and Dalvay by the Sea. Each D.P. Murphy Hotel property prides itself on exceptional guest service, providing “Hospitality…Like Never Before” to every guest, every stay.
The newly constructed 124 room, six-storey Holiday Inn Express Moncton officially opened in July 2018. It operates under the direction of general manager Cindy Bourque who has worked with D.P. Murphy hotels since 2012.
The hotel is conveniently located on the Trans-Canada Highway, minutes from Downtown Moncton, Magic Mountain Water Park, the Magnetic Hill Zoo, Costco shopping district, and the Moncton Coliseum.
Complimentary amenities include Express Start hot breakfast, Wi-Fi, parking, HDTV flat panel TVs, digital cable, indoor pool, fitness centre, and more. The property is 100 per cent non-smoking and pet friendly, and has two spacious meeting rooms.
D.P. Murphy Hotels is proud to announce that in the spring of 2019, it will open its 13th property with the addition of the Hampton Inn & Suites Charlottetown. The newly constructed hotel will operate under Glen Morrison, who joined D.P. Murphy Hotels at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Sydney, N.S.
Located on Capital Drive, the six-storey, 124 room property will open its doors in May, 2019 and will have 93 guest rooms and 31 suites. The hotel will offer its guests a swimming pool, fitness centre, outdoor deck, complimentary breakfast bar and great room space, a suite shop along with a boardroom and approximately 1,500 square feet of meeting space.
New hires at DP Murphy Group
Glen Morrison will assume the role of general manager of Hampton Inn & Suites Charlottetown, when it opens next spring. He joined the DP Murphy Group as GM at the Hampton Inn Sydney, N.S., shortly after the doors opened. Prior to joining DP Murphy, Morrison was with Centennial Hotels as the front office manager, assistant general manager and most recently controller with the Cambridge Suites Sydney over a 17 year span. His career includes jobs as a guest service agent, night auditor and guest services manager at the Ramada Mariner Hotel in Sydney (now the Holiday Inn Waterfront) for seven years during its transition from Ramada, Sheraton and Delta Hotels.
Judy MacDonald has accepted the role of general manager for the Hampton Inn by Hilton, Sydney, N.S. MacDonald has spent the last year as assistant general manager at the Hampton Inn Sydney and prior to that as housekeeping manager and rooms division manager for the property. She joined the DP Murphy team in 2014 after having spent 22 years in the industry in various roles including housekeeping attendant, guest service agent, assistant housekeeping manager, front office supervisor, acccounts reeceivable agent and executive housekeeping manager for the Holiday Inn Sydney Waterfront (formerly Delta Sydney Hotel).
With nearly 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Sandra Zinck returns to D.P. Murphy Hotels as director of hotel operations. She will oversee the company's growing portfolio of Maritime Hotels. Most recently, she worked with Mainsail Lodging & Development in Tampa, Florida for three years as general manager of two of their Anna Maria Island properties. For nine years prior, she was general manager at Four Points by Sheraton Moncton, where she acted as the project manager prior to its opening in June 2015. During her time with D.P. Murphy Hotels, she was also general manager of Future Inns Hotel & Conference Centre, where she directed operations of the 128-room property, including 10,000 square feet of meeting space.
Denise Bulger has been hired as director of human resources for D.P. Murphy Group of Companies. She is regarded as a top human resource professional in the province of Prince Edward Island with experience that spans numerous provinces, as well as the United States. Denise has held similar roles over the past 18 years at Electronic Arts Canada, 3 Points Aviation, PEI BioAlliance, Cogsdale Corporation, Deltaware Systems Inc and American Express Canada.
