OTTAWA—Tigh-Na-Mara Resort, the Gold Eagle Lodge and Delta Hotels & Resorts were all named as honourees, as the The Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) unveiled its 2013 Hall of Fame Awards of Excellence winners on Nov. 27.
The Hall of Fame Awards Program was developed by the HAC to recognize those of its members (individuals, companies or properties) that have demonstrated significant accomplishments, exemplary leadership and tireless commitment to Canada’s lodging industry.
Winners are recognized in three categories. The winners of the 2013 Awards of Excellence in each category include:
o Humanitarian: Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort & Conference Centre
The property and staff receive this award in recognition
of their long history and dedication as a generous supporter of many
charitable campaigns and initiatives including spreading Christmas cheer
to local people in need, purchasing, cooking and preparing Christmas
turkey dinner at the Salvation Army Hall. Staff are very engaged and
support the community in many ways, both financially and through
hundreds of volunteer hours. Charity begins at home; for Tigh-Na-Mara
Seaside Spa Resort & Conference Centre home is the Parksville
Qualicum Beach region of Vancouver Island, BC.

Gold Eagle Lodge has made a commitment to their associates and community
by continually providing a dedication to professionalism in tourism
through well trained and enthusiastic staff. The property believes in
their ability to provide a genuine hospitality experience for all
guests. Training plays a key role in staff development and with the
support of Saskatchewan Tourism Education Council (STEC) the Gold Eagle
Lodge has become a leader in the industry. Gold Eagle Lodge staff is
aware of trends in the labour market and continually stretch the
imagination on the term “traditional” workforce. Together they are
strong and face a future of positive people resource management.
o Green Key Environment: Delta Hotels & Resorts
Hotels & Resorts demonstrates industry leadership and commitment to
protecting the environment through their Delta Greens program.
Environmental sustainability is at the core of the organization and
employees and management have embraced the program. A culture of
environmental responsibility has been firmly planted in everything they
do. Delta Hotels & Resorts is a leader in Environmental
Sustainability within the Canadian Hospitality Industry. Their progress
and success speaks to their dedication and ongoing commitment within all
levels of the organization.
“The goal of HAC’s awards program is to reward strong standards in the industry that will enable Canada to remain competitive,” said Tony Pollard, HAC president. “We are pleased to honour the 2013 award recipients, whom we feel represent some of the finest examples of professionalism, quality and excellence.”
The HAC Hall of Fame Awards of Excellence will be presented on Feb. 12, 2014 at the Hotel Association of Canada’s Conference to be held at the Eaton Chelsea Hotel in Toronto.
