TORONTO – InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), has announced the inauguration of the recently built 119-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gatineau – Ottawa hotel in Gatineau, Que. Located 10 minutes away from the Canadian Museum of History, a short drive from Parliament Hill and the Gatineau Park, this hotel is expected to be a top choice for leisure, group travel, sport and business travellers in the Gatineau and Ottawa area.

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gatineau-Ottawa property is the first modular build structure in IHG’s Canadian portfolio. The hotel was developed by Quebec-based manufacturer, RCM Modulaire, which specializes in the construction of family housing, temporary buildings and multi-use spaces.

Modular buildings are created in a factory where block room units with interior finishes are completed, including beds, lights, health and safety fixtures, wiring and connections, and bathrooms. Units are then delivered to the hotel site for assembly. The in-factory work runs parallel with on-site activity, which allows for overall shorter construction time and better cost control, while maintaining the quality and design of the building. The buildings maintain the exterior trademark architecture of the Holiday Inn Express brand’s newest design solution.

“The Holiday Inn Express brand is one of the most widely recognized hotel brands in the world,” said Jean-François Tremblay, general manager. “We are pleased to add this hotel in our nation’s capital region. We hope travellers will enjoy their stay and explore what the beautiful Outaouais region and Ottawa have in store.”

Additional amenities at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gatineau-Ottawa hotel include an indoor pool, fitness center and flexible meeting space. Parking is equipped with power stations for electric vehicles, bike racks and spaces for coaches and accessible guests.

The hotel, located at 11 Impasse de la Gare-Talon and is owned and managed by Gestion Hôtelière Gatineau Inc.
