World's largest Residence Inn opens in Calgary

Atlific Hotels
has announced the opening of the world’s largest Residence Inn by Marriott on March 1, 2019 in one of Calgary’s most dynamic neighbourhoods, the Beltline District. The hotel pays
homage to Calgary’s western history, on the site where the historic Alberta
Boot Company once stood

Located at 10th Ave and 5th Street SW, the hotel’s 33 floors, 390 spacious guest suites and
6,000 square feet of meeting space blend comfort and style, while the
property’s unique art and design touches including floor-to-ceiling murals and
cowboy boot stitching incorporated into all guestroom bed headboards pay homage
to Calgary’s western history.

to be opening a spectacular new addition to Calgary’s Beltline District,” said Gordon Johnson, vice-president, operations for Atlific Hotels. 

The striking 33-floor exterior tower
of the hotel stands out on Calgary’s iconic skyline.  Hotel amenities and
guest experiences have been thoughtfully curated. The modern design features a
gallery-influenced lobby with soaring ceilings and inviting places to socialize
and connect. Integrated technology is featured throughout the property with
free Wi-Fi and tech savvy touches, including the ability to synchronize a
guest’s personal Netflix or Hulu account to the in-room television.

Catering
to both business and leisure travellers, the hotel includes studio and
one-bedroom suites with fully-equipped kitchens. The guest-centric offerings
also include valet parking, concierge, complimentary grocery delivery service,
a 24-hour market, complimentary daily buffet breakfast, a common laundry room,
and a 24-hour, 2-level fitness facility that is bright and airy with floor to
ceiling windows. 

To add to the full-service experience, the Hearth Room Lounge
and Terrace with seasonal patio features light meal service complemented by
regionally-infused crafted cocktails, west-coast wines and local beer
selections. Coming summer 2019, will be the addition of a bistro wine bar in
the lobby of the hotel. Furthermore, the hotel is pet-friendly, so guests don’t
have to leave their favourite furry companions at home.

General manager Eric Ashton, who grew up in Jasper, and built his hotel career with
Starwood Hotels in Alberta, BC, Florida and Nashville, TN before joining
Atlific Hotels in October, leads the hotel’s team.

warm and welcoming hotel with a modern boutique feel, that encourages guests to

Designed
to appeal to the corporate groups market, the hotel’s 6,000 square feet of naturally-lit
meeting space with built-in multimedia technology caters to groups of up to 175
delegates. Meeting rooms of various sizes are paired with dedicated gathering
spaces on the Meetings Level for meals, breakout sessions and one-on-one
meetings.

Winnipeg gets a Residence Inn too

WINNIPEG — The 122-suite Residence Inn by Marriott in Winnipeg, also opened on March 1, 2019, with its upscale,
stylish décor that offers flexibility, while creating a unique environment.
Located at 1301 Ellice Avenue, the all-suite Residence Inn Winnipeg will
operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by MLS Management, Ltd. The brand-new
hotel is connected to the existing Fairfield Inn & Suites making it the
first dual-branded property in Winnipeg.

Located one kilometer
from Winnipeg James Richardson International Airport and 10 minutes from
downtown Winnipeg, the hotel offers convenient
access to Bell MTS Place, Assiniboine Park and CF Polo Park. Rates vary
depending on length of stay.

The Residence Inn

Coast to manage Backcomb Lodge

VANCOUVER — Coast Hotels is
pleased to announce that it has entered into a management agreement effective
April 1 to manage the Blackcomb Lodge in Whistler, B.C., overseeing operations,
accounting, sales and marketing on behalf of the hotel’s strata unit owners.

The 71‐room Blackcomb
Lodge, which opened its doors to guests in 1982, was Whistler Village’s first
hotel. Centrally located in the heart of Whistler Village, Blackcomb Lodge is a
quick six minute walk to both the
Blackcomb Excalibur Gondola and the Whistler Village Gondola, offering easy ski
and downhill mountain bike access. The hotel is just steps away from shopping,
restaurants and Whistler Square’s vibrant nightlife. Just off the hotel’s
lobby, the award‐winning Araxi Restaurant + Oyster Bar offers a seasonally focused

IHG's debut in Pacific Northwest

ATLANTA – InterContinental Hotels Group, has announced the development of a new InterContinental Hotels & Resorts
property in Bellevue, Washington, located in the Seattle metropolitan area.
Developed by Bellevue-based Fortress Development, the new-build hotel is expected to open in
Q4 2021 and will be part of a luxury, two-tower mixed-use development known as Avenue Bellevue.

Located in downtown Bellevue, the InterContinental
Bellevue at The Avenue hotel will feature 252 guest rooms,
and two bars and a restaurant from the team behind Buddakan NYC. Additional
property features will include 14,250 square feet of meeting space including a
grand ballroom and a junior ballroom, a business center, a full-service spa,
and a fitness center.

This will be the first InterContinental hotel
in the Pacific Northwest and continues IHG’s expansion on the West Coast,
following recent hotel openings in downtown Los Angeles and San Diego. The
hotel will bring a new wave of sophistication and luxury to Bellevue’s thriving
downtown neighborhood.

Construction is expected to begin in mid-2019.

Kingsbridge adds Qualicum Beach Inn to portfolio

VICTORIA — Kingsbridge
Management added Qualicum Beach Inn to its boutique hotel portfolio in
February. The full-service hotel management company specializes in creating
