TORONTO — In late December, the team at Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Toronto International Airport visited the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto to present a cheque for $4,678.10.

The hotel team raised the money during the preceding four weeks through food sales at the employee cafeteria, bake sales, a spa day for associates and raffle from the hotel’s holiday celebration.

Inspiring the hotel team to assist SickKids was an earlier visit to the hospital, where they learned of the facility’s struggle to raise funds for teenage children, since during the holiday season most donors earmark their gifts for smaller children.

After that visit, the hotel set the goal to beat their summer collection and raise $2,100 by Dec. 11, a target they surpassed by a large margin.
