On July 5, 2018, Edmonton's Fairmont Hotel Macdonald celebrated its 103rd birthday, said the hotel in a Twitter message. Overlooking the lush Saskatchewan River Valley, the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, has been an iconic landmark in Edmonton since 1915. Coast Hotels golf tournament raises funds for charities

DELTA, B.C. — On July 5, 2018, Coast Hotels hosted the 16th Annual Coast Hotels Shuhachi Naito Golf Classic at Tsawwassen Springs Golf Club in Delta, B.C. The tournament had a 12:00 noon shotgun start, and a Texas scramble format. 

“Last year we were able to raise $83,000.00 for our two charities, the ALS Society of B.C. and S.U.C.C.E.S.S.,” said Mark Hope, senior executive director, Development & Revenue Strategy, at Coast Hotels. 

“This year, we raised north of $75,000.00 on the day (final numbers not yet complete) for the ALS Society of B.C., Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre, and S.U.C.C.E.S.S.,” said Hope following the tournament.

Tournament namesake Shuhachi Naito passed away from ALS.

Brews and Blues and a game of golf

The 20th Annual Saskatchewan Hotel & Hospitality Association’s “Fore the Future Golf Tournament” will be held at the Kindersley Regional Park & Golf Course on Thursday September 6, with a tee off time of 1:00 PM. The Kindersley Regional Park includes a full-service golf course and the picturesque Motherwell Reservoir and Community Walking Trail. 

The SHHA awards annual scholarships to students who are studying for a career in the hospitality industry. “Fore the Future” is the association's major fundraising event.

Booking deadline is August 3.

“We are planning a fun tournament that includes a pre-game lunch at the Kindersley Inn, and, a post-game dinner & party at The Red Lion Inn, featuring blues performer, B.C. Read,” said organizer Warren Nerby of SHHA. 

B.C. Read is an award winning recording artist with a unique style of Roots & Blues who has entertained audiences in clubs and festivals throughout Canada.
