TORONTO — Tourism Toronto, the official destination marketing organization for the region encompassing Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton, has come up with its list of the Top 20 in 2020, and five of the most anticipated events are hotel openings.
1 HOTEL TORONTO: Luxury and sustainable living is at the forefront of another hotel opening summer 2020. 1 Hotel Toronto is inspired by Canada’s natural beauty the character of King Street West and the toronto marketplace. 1 Hotels purposefully reuse existing structural and reclaimed materials gathered from the local community, including timber, driftwood and local limestone.
ACE HOTEL: Toronto gets its first Ace Hotel. In 2020, expect the grand opening of the new 13-storey hotel inside Toronto’s Fashion District. The Ace Hotel is made of a group of inclusive individuals seeking to embrace the cities they’re in by building spaces for collective gatherings.
DRAKE HOTEL: The awaited completion of the Drake Hotel expansion on Queen Street West is also set for 2020. The expansion will unveil a new lobby specifically for hotel guests, an additional 32 rooms, and a new suite, inspired by the Owner’s Suite at the Drake Devonshire, in Prince Edward County, Ontario.
PARK HYATT: After nearly two years of renovations, Toronto’s reinvented Park Hyatt is set to re-open in summer 2020. This renovation and the hotel’s design plans include a significant reconstruction, resulting in a re-invented Park Hyatt luxury hotel. It will have 22 guest rooms and suites, a new ballroom, meeting and event space and restaurant, as well as a fully-refurbished spa and roof lounge.
W HOTEL: Marriott International, Inc. has announced Toronto’s first W Hotel in Yorkville. The hotel will be a nine-storey, 255-room luxury property surrounded by Bloor Street’s high-end shopping boutiques and will feature its own DJ booth and recording studio. Guests can stay in this new, vibrant and sophisticated hotel as early as summer 2020. The $40 million design transformation, which began in July 2019, will reimagine the property’s guest rooms, restaurants and amenities. The property is expected to open as W Toronto in Summer 2020.
