Ryan McRae will join Marriott Hotels of Canada as vice-president, hotel development, effective Sept. 15. He will be based in Vancouver and will be responsible for the growth of Marriott's full-service, select-service and extended-stay hotel brands in Western Canada. 

McRae joins Marriott with more than 16 years of commercial real estate experience, including eight years focusing on hospitality acquisitions and development. Most recently, he was vice-president, acquisitions and development for SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts, where he was responsible for Canada-wide hotel development and acquisition. He also served as chairman of the company's investment committee. Prior to his role with SilverBirch, McRae was a development director with Hilton Worldwide, focused on corporate growth in a variety of global markets, including, at various times, Western Canada, the United States Pacific Northwest, Europe, Russia and parts of Africa.
