ATLANTA, GA—When Mike Muir, Best Western
International’s new vice president North American Development arrived at the
Hunter Hotel Investment Conference in Atlanta last month, he was winding up a
two-week whirlwind schedule.
“I’ve been on the job two weeks, and I’m not just settling
in. It’s more like a deep dive. I’ve been to the corporate offices in Phoenix,
meeting everybody, at a district meeting for Southeast region, and the AAHOA [Asian American Hotel Owners Association] meeting. I’ve just come from Dallas
in Central region, and now I’m at
the Hunter conference. My timing was perfect—I’m hitting the road!”
Muir brings more than 25 years of experience and his expertise in
strategic growth and development to the brand, according to the company.
He has worked with such brands as Holiday Inn, Hawthorn Suites and
Microtel Inn & Suites.
“I love Canada,” he
told CLN. “I think it’s the best-kept secret and the most beautiful country. I’m
looking forward to travelling and getting to know our three development
directors who cover the country.”
This is the first time Muir has worked for a
membership-based organization. “Best Western has a great story to tell. When
you’re a not-for-profit organization, every dollar you make goes back to help
“We are delighted to welcome Mike to Best Western,” said Best Western International president and CEO David Kong. “His extensive experience and knowledge of our industry will be integral in helping us to continue to grow our brand presence in North America.”
