Travelodge Canada is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to its national sales team.

Mark Collins joined the Travelodge Canada family this month as the newly appointed national sales manager, Corporate. Mark brings with him close to 20 years of hospitality experience, beginning his career with Campus Living Centres as their national sales manager where he led a department of property-based sales representatives across Canada. Passionate about building relationships and contributing to an organization’s growth, Mark is driven to find prospects to develop into win-win partnerships.

Cathy Bayot has joined Travelodge Canada as national sales manager, Tour & Leisure, while Tatyana Spiridonova is on maternity leave. With 25 years of international hospitality experience specializing in the SMERF segment, Bayot brings a wealth of knowledge. Recent companies include Novotel Toronto, Crowne Plaza Toronto Airport and Westmont Hospitality Group, where she was a Regional Sales Manager. Cathy’s focus on building beneficial, long lasting relationships will serve her well in the tour and travel market.

CEO Craig Foley has been appointed to
the Board of Directors of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC). During the 2018 TIAC Tourism Congress
held last month in Ottawa, Foley was appointed Chair of the Provincial and
Territorial Tourism Industry Associations (PTTIA) Committee and will also serve
as a TIAC Board member. The PTTIA brings together provincial and
territorial industry associations/agencies to coordinate priorities, issues and
activities common to all on the national level. Foley joins fellow provincial
tourism leader, Cathy Duke, Chief Executive Officer of Destination St. John’s,
on the TIAC Board of Directors. Ms. Duke was appointed to the Board in 2013.

AccorHotels announced early this month that the
company’s chief operating officer for North & Central America, Kevin Frid, has
decided to retire on January 31, 2019. Frid’s retirement will bring to a close
a remarkable career of more than 36 years of service to the company. Frid began his career in hospitality
in 1982 with Delta Hotels, working in many operational capacities as he rose
through the ranks to senior vice president, operations when the company was
acquired by Canadian Pacific Hotels in 1998. In 2000, Canadian Pacific Hotels
merged with Fairmont Hotels to become Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, and Frid
transferred to Chicago as regional vice president for the Central US region.
Since that time, Frid has been instrumental in the evolution of the company
leading the transformation from Fairmont to FRHI as president, Americas, and
then to AccorHotels in his current role as COO, North & Central America.

AccorHotels North & Central
America will remain under the leadership of Chris Cahill, deputy chief executive officer, AccorHotels. Alongside the AccorHotels North & Central
America senior leadership team, Cahill is working closely with Frid to ensure a
smooth transition. 

Sébastien Gagné is the new general manager at the  InterContinental Montreal, the company announced Dec. 3.  His extensive experience, professional background and expertise in the hotel industry are commended within the establishment. Originally from Quebec City, Gagné owned a restaurant in the area at age 18. With more than 20 years in the hotel business, he began his career at the Delta Montréal as Maître d'Hotel and roe through the ranks, for seven years, moving from director of F&B to director of Human Resources. He was then named director of HR at the W Montréal Hotel, and became director of operations in 2007. In 2009, he continued with the IHG family, becoming director of experience at the Intercontinental Montréal. He also went into business as a hotel management advisor for about 12 hotels, while still working at the InterCOntinental Montréal, and also developed an expenditure and productivity management system.

D.P. Murphy Hotels is very pleased to announce a new cluster sales manager for their Holiday Inn Express & Suites brand. Shelley Rideout joined the hotel team on December 3rd, 2018. Shelley has many years experience in the hotel industry and comes highly recommended by her colleagues. She will be a great asset to the company's sales team taking on the Holiday Inn & Suites properties and working with the existing teams in Moncton, Fredericton & Saint John, NB along with Charlottetown, P.E.I. Prior to joining D.P Murphy Hotels, Rideout spent her last three years as the regional sales manager with the Hilton brands in downtown Halifax focussing on the Aboriginal, government, and SMERF markets. Prior to that, she was a sales manager with The Park Place Hotel & Conference Centre. She plays a big role in her community volunteering at the local women’s shelter and fostering dogs through a local rescue group.
