Choice Hotels
International, Inc. has promoted Abhijit
Patel
to vice-president of marketing and distribution strategy and
operations. In this role, Patel will oversee the company’s marketing and
distribution functions, including property management systems, third-party
distribution channels, and vendor relationships to increase revenue and improve
performance and profitability for franchisees. He will also work closely with
Choice’s technology and busess intelligence organizations to refine booking and
shopping functionality, mobile evolution, and loyalty contribution.

Choice Hotels
International, Inc., one of the world's largest lodging franchisors, has
elected Maureen Sullivan to its
board of directors. Sullivan, chief operating officer of Rent the Runway, and a
former AOL and Google executive, brings a wealth of highly relevant experience
to the Choice board, including business, innovation, branding, digital,
engineering and e-commerce expertise.

Corbin Staniloff
has been appointed to the position of senior associate at CBRE Hotels Capital Markets Vancouver, and will be moving there in the spring. Staniloff comes to CBRE from
Cushman & Wakefield, Toronto, where he was an associate, Capital Markets,
Hotel Investments. Prior to that, he worked as an underwriting analyst for The
Largo Group of Companies in Toronto, as a development assistant for MasterBUILT
Hotels and as a marketing coordinator for Jayman BUILT in Calgary.

Darlene Doerksen has joined the Tourism HR Canada
Board of Directors, filling a vacancy for a director in the Human Resource
Organization category. As chief executive officer of the Yukon Tourism Education
Council, Doerksen brings extensive knowledge of the tourism sector, and will
represent Canada’s North, ensuring the board serves a pan-Canadian perspective.
Having previously served on the board from 1995 to 2016, including as chair of
the Finance Committee, Doerksen’s financial expertise and experience managing
federally funded projects will help guide Tourism HR Canada as it begins
several multi-year federal initiatives.


Erin
O’Brien
is now vice-president at Deloitte Canada, Toronto.  Previously, she spent 18 years at CBRE Hotels
where she rose to become senior director, Valuation and Advisory Services,
responsible for overseeing
hospitality related valuation assignments across the country. Prior to that,
she was guest services manager at the Meridien King Edward Hotel (now the Omni
King Edward Hotel.)

Radisson Hotel Group
has appointed James (Jamie) Pawlikowski as vice-president of IT Service
Management. In this newly created role, Pawlikowski will be responsible for
supporting business operations and continuously improving the service
performance of Radisson Hotel Group’s current and future platforms. Pawlikowski
brings a wealth of experience to Radisson Hotel Group. He joins the company from
Home Depot where he was the Head of IT Service Management for IT Operations.
During his time at Home Depot, he oversaw a team of service delivery leaders
for the company’s technology organization. Pawlikowski has also held IT
leadership positions at CA Technologies, Sabre Corporation, Citi, and JPMorgan
Chase & Co.

Tourism Toronto announced
new executive appointments, aligned with the organization's strategic
priorities. Andrew Weir has been
named to the new position of executive vice-president, Destination Development,
and Jon Mamela will join Tourism
Toronto as executive vice-president and chief marketing officer. Both
appointments take effect on January 1, 2019.

Mamela joins Tourism
Toronto after five years with Destination Canada as SVP and chief marketing
officer, where he led the organization's digital marketing and sales
transformation and achieved consecutive year-over-year growth, resulting in new
record highs for international visitation to Canada. Prior to Destination
Canada, Mamela built his marketing and sales career over the past 20 years in
the travel sector with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Fairmont Hotels and
Resorts, and Travel Alberta, as well as in the consumer packaged goods industry
with Procter & Gamble.

Weir has been with
Tourism Toronto for the past 13 years. For the past four years, he has served
as EVP and chief marketing officer, during which time he led the development of
a new tourism brand and campaign for Toronto that has won numerous national and
international awards. Prior to that, Mr. Weir was vice-president,
Communications for nine years. Earlier in his career, he served as
communications director to a provincial cabinet minister and worked in
communications in the biotech and medical device sector.

Barry Johnson has been appointed general manager of Delta Hotels by
Marriott Vancouver Downtown Suites. He has had an accomplished and progressive career
previously with Delta Hotels by Marriott starting in 2003. Johnson held multiple
roles from executive chef to director of food and beverage at Delta Vancouver
Airport (2003-2008) and then from rooms division manager to operations manager
at Delta Vancouver Downtown Suites (2008-2012). His growing roles and
responsibilities have reflected his leadership to take on more new challenges.
In 2012, Johnson was promoted to hotel manager at Delta Vancouver Airport. He holds a Bachelor of Hospitality Management from Vancouver Community College.

William MacCallum has been appointed dual general manager Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn & Suites Toronto/Markham. He has been in
the hospitality industry for over 17 years, starting as a room attendant
at the Delta Lodge at Kananaskis in Alberta. From there he has held positions
including executive housekeeper, front office manager, operations manager, hotel manager and general manager, and as a professional for LRA by
Deloitte.
