VANCOUVER — SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts announced on May 20 that it had won a 2015 Hotel Visionary Award, in the Infrastructure/Back-Office Technology Innovator category. The awards were announced during the Hotel Technology Forum, held April 22-24 at the Gran Melia Resort, in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

The Infrastructure/Back-Office Technology Innovator Award recognizes a hotel company that has leveraged technology beyond standard practices to improve overall hotel operations. SilverBirch’s award recognized its successful implementation of infrastructure and system upgrades across 16 hotel properties

“We’re proud of this award because it helps validate the effort and hard work the SilverBirch team put into this multi-system deployment,” said Walid Salem, vice-president, information technology, in a release.

Now in their 11th year, the Hotel Visionary Awards are presented by Hospitality Technology (HT) Magazine in two categories: infrastructure/back-office technology, and customer-facing/in-room technology. In order to ensure that companies from across the industry are recognized, consideration is given to size, resources and individual market-segment benchmarks. Winners are selected by HT editorial staff and members of the HT advisory board based on innovation, thought leadership, execution and forward-thinking vision.
